A sculptural vase in glazed stoneware, created in 2021. Straddling the boundary between vessel and sculpture, ‘Unicorn Vase’ places the form of the vase within a fantastical imagination.
Danish artist Maria Lindegaard Henningsen has developed a practice in which ornamentation, irregularity and figurative forms take centre stage. Drawing inspiration from the world of fairy tales, her work explores the fragility and transience of living things. Ceramics play a key role in this exploration: their physical presence is accompanied by a vulnerability that lends the sculptures their distinctive tension.
