Organic sculpture
Coil-built, fritted glaze with pinkish hues
2026
H26 D16 cm
This sculpture by Turi Heisselberg Pedersen exemplifies the Danish ceramicist’s exploration of form, material and colour. Hand-built using the coil-building technique, the piece takes on an organic silhouette whose irregularities and surface tensions contribute fully to its sculptural character.
The sintered glaze, with its delicate pinkish hues, emphasises the volumes and lends the surface a mineral-like depth, placing the work at the intersection of contemporary ceramics and abstract sculpture.
Born in Holsted, Denmark, Turi Heisselberg Pedersen graduated from the Kolding School of Design in 1990, where she taught from 1994 to 2007. Her work takes the vessel as its starting point, which she develops into abstract sculpture. Geological structures, plants and the rhythms of the landscape inform her exploration of volumes and textures. Her works are held, notably, at the National Ceramics Museum in Sèvres and the Magnelli Museum, the ceramics museum in Vallauris.
