Description
WMF-IKORA (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik AG). Ovoid vase in patinated and gilded brass, decorated with trees in the style of copperwork. Late 1920s, early 1930s. Manufacturer’s hallmark on the reverse. Height: 8.5 cm. Minor dents. Hugo Debach, managing director of WMF, founded the ‘Neue Kunstgewerbliche Abteilung’ (NKA), whose range, named ‘Ikora’ after an Asian goddess to evoke a sense of preciousness and exclusivity, and based on chemical and thermal metal patinas, proved highly successful.
