Description
[Decorations]. First World War, MEUSE – Lorraine. Mementoes of the Parisot brothers: the first lot comprising the decorations of Private Léon Julien PARISOT (1888–1916), who died for France on 24 May at Mort-Homme (Chattancourt): a Military Medal (silver – struck by the Monnaie de Paris, in its cardboard case) and a War Cross with commendation (1914–1918, in its cardboard case), awarded posthumously. Enclosed are the decree awarding the Military Medal, dated 1922, and the letter from the head of the 6th Region’s Decorations Office to the deceased’s brother, dated 22 September 1922. The second set comprises the medals of Private Jules Augustin PARISOT (1885–1975), an artilleryman who served with the Army of the Orient from 27 September 1916 to 5 March 1919. According to his service record (no. 663, available for consultation at the Meuse Departmental Archives), he was awarded the Orient Medal by decree of 19 December 1931 (condition: SUP, in its cardboard case), as well as the Serbia Medal (condition: SUP, with its ribbon mounted in the Serbian style and a spare clasp, in its rare period cardboard case marked 1914–1918). He also received the Combatant’s Cross (two examples, in excellent condition, in cardboard cases) and the Commemorative Medal of the Kingdom of Italy (in excellent condition, in a cardboard case).
