NANCY – Lorraine. The statue of Louis XV on Place Royale in Nancy, erected on 26 November 1755 and sculpted by Guibal and Cyfflé. Etching. 18th century. Framed. Frame dimensions: 31 x 24.5 cm. Toppled during the Revolution, this statue was replaced by one of Stanislas, the deposed King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, who commissioned the construction of the square in the 18th century. He was Louis XV’s father-in-law.
