Contemporary Austrian painter and illustrator. Born in Graz in 1957, he lives and works in Graz, travelling occasionally. Since the late 1970s, he has exhibited regularly in renowned galleries in Austria and abroad. His imagery combines expressive, sometimes mystically charged architectural and landscape motifs with figurative elements and abstract, collage-like structures. He favours oil painting, acrylic, watercolour and mixed media, often employing impasto layers and incorporating materials reminiscent of travel motifs and distant cultures. He has been teaching at art academies in German-speaking countries since the 1990s.
