Austrian artist of the 20th century, born in 1933. A self-taught artist with a background in medicine, she devoted herself mainly to watercolour, drawing, printmaking and photography; in 1990, she was accepted into the Vienna Cooperative of Visual Artists. She took part in the Symposium of European Sculptors in St. Margarethen in 1981 and was represented in exhibitions at the Künstlerhaus and the Association of Fine Artists of Austria (VBKÖ). In 1990, the catalogue ‘Komplexe Freiheit’ (Complex Freedom) was published on her work, which features abstract and expressive elements. Bolterauer took part in group exhibitions such as the IntAkt exhibition in 1986 with ‘Fria Elfen. Hommage a Popowa’ and was mentioned in the Künstlerhaus’s 2013 annual reports. Her body of work spans post-war and contemporary art, with works such as ‘Untitled’ appearing at auctions; as a versatile artist, she experimented with forms and media within the Viennese art scene.
