Othmar Brodil* (Vienna 1934 – 1987 Vienna) The Prophet, 1983 watercolour on paper, 60 x 50 cm signed Lidor, dated 83 inscribed ‘Der Prophet’ ESTIMATE €50 – €100 STARTING PRICE €50 Othmar Brodil (known by the pseudonym Lidor) was an Austrian painter, graphic artist and satirical cartoonist who lived and worked in Vienna from 1934 to 1987. From 1951 onwards, he worked as an illustrator and satirical cartoonist for various magazines. His works are predominantly in the realm of abstract art. The art world coined the term “Lidorism” to describe his unique collage technique. Related artists and terms: lithography, graphic art, watercolour, Austrian artists PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price comprises the highest bid plus the buyer’s premium, VAT and, where applicable, the artists’ resale rights fee and platform fee. In the case of standard taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax of 13 per cent (20 per cent for photographs) is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer’s premium and the platform fee.
