Franz Burkert was an Austrian painter and graphic artist. From 1956 to 1961, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Maximilian Melcher and Christian Martin. After completing his studies, he remained in Vienna, where he worked as a teacher and graphic artist from 1961 onwards. Alongside his teaching work, Burkert devoted himself intensively to the visual arts. His body of work encompasses both painting and graphic art and is characterised by a meticulous exploration of form and composition. As an artist of the second half of the 20th century, he follows in the tradition of Austrian post-war art, combining technical precision with a contemporary visual language.
