Austrian painter of the 20th century. Born in Krems an der Donau in 1918, he completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic and was seriously wounded during the Second World War (1941), after which he studied at the German Academy of Fine Arts from 1943 onwards. A member of the Wachau Artists’ Association, he was awarded the Lower Austria Culture Prize in 1964 and was regarded as a key figure in post-war painting in the region. Dressler created landscapes and scenes of the Wachau region incorporating Impressionist and Expressionist elements, which were exhibited in Krems and regional galleries.
