Ursula Einseleit* (Wenzken 1911 – 1997 Mainz) Pelicans pencil on paper 40 x 30 cm ESTIMATE €40 – €60 STARTING PRICE €40 German sculptor, graphic artist and poet of the 20th century. Born in 1911 in Wenzken (Angerburg district, East Prussia) as Ursula Riel, she was active in West Germany after being displaced and mainly created bronze sculptures and wall reliefs featuring animal and East Prussian motifs. She was awarded the Angerburg Literature Prize in 1967 for her poems and created works such as the reclining bronze elk cow and reliefs for twin districts. Enseleit combined sculptural forms with a literary attachment to her homeland; her works have been exhibited in East Prussian museums and regional collections, and her sculptures feature natural, dynamic depictions of animals.
