Austrian painter of the 20th century. Born in Vienna in 1933 as Herbert Wolfgang Herrgöth, he worked as a freelance artist, received state art grants and took part in exhibitions; he died in Vienna in 1984. Herrgöth created oil paintings and watercolours featuring surrealistic and anatomical motifs such as ‘Carnival’, ‘Anatomical Landscape’ and ‘The Kiss’, characterised by expressive figure painting and fantastical compositions.
