Siegfried Krupbauer was an Austrian painter and graphic artist of the post-war modernist movement. Born in 1935 in Bad Vöslau, Lower Austria, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Herbert Boeckl. From the 1960s onwards, he took part in exhibitions at the Vienna Künstlerhaus and regional galleries, devoting himself to figurative painting featuring everyday motifs and landscapes. He lived and worked primarily in Lower Austria. Krupbauer created expressive portraits, genre paintings and vedute (cityscapes) using impasto, dynamic brushstrokes and Impressionist-Expressionist influences, characterised by Boeckl’s tradition and a deep connection to his local region.
