Sieglinde Layr is an Austrian painter and graphic artist working in the field of contemporary art. Born in 1950 in St. Pölten, Lower Austria, she studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna from 1968 to 1973 under Oswald Oberhuber and Wolfgang Hutter. From the 1970s onwards, she took part in exhibitions at the Vienna Secession and the Künstlerhaus, taught as a guest lecturer at art schools, and from the 1980s devoted herself to abstract and representational painting, focusing on nature and the human form. Layr created vibrantly coloured acrylic and oil paintings featuring organic forms, geometric structures and expressive gestures, influenced by Fantastic Realism and Informal Art. Her themes included body landscapes and cosmic spaces, characterised by impasto layering and dynamic composition.
