Heinrich Tahedl was a prominent Austrian painter and graphic artist. After the Second World War, he had a particularly significant influence on sacred and public art in Vienna and Lower Austria. Whilst his works integrated into architecture were widely visible, his studio-based work remained almost entirely hidden during his lifetime. It was not until the 1960s that Tahedl began to experiment intensively with acrylic paints. He developed a non-representational style strongly characterised by basic geometric shapes such as circles, triangles and squares. These works are distinguished by their intense colour, reminiscent of the luminosity of his stained-glass windows.
