Karl Friedrich Bell* (Vienna 1877 – 1958 Vienna) The Seven Deadly Sins, 1910 lithograph on paper, 46 x 31.5 cm all sheets signed K F Bell ESTIMATE €300 – €500 STARTING PRICE €300 Austrian painter and graphic artist of the early 20th century. Born in Vienna in 1877, died there in 1958. Studied at the Graphic Arts Teaching and Research Institute and, in 1897, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Known for his fine etchings, lithographs and woodcuts depicting Viennese folk life, including street scenes such as ‘Rabengassel, Alt-Erdberg’, musicians (‘Der Geigenspieler’) and rural scenes such as ‘Am Sonntagsberg’. He took part in the 46th exhibition of the Vienna Secession in 1914, exhibiting bookplate designs.
