Christa von Szabó, later Christa Deuticke-Szabó, was an Austrian figure skater and landscape painter from Vienna. She came from a well-known sporting family: her mother, Christine Szabo-Engelmann, was a figure skater; her uncle, Eduard Engelmann Jr., was a multiple European champion and the builder of the world’s first artificial ice rink; and her sister was the Olympic champion Herma Szabó. Whilst she enjoyed sporting success in figure skating and swimming during her youth, she later devoted herself to painting and exhibited her landscape works.
