Born Elisabeth Wohlfahrt in Freising near Munich, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, specialising in painting and graphic art. She married the artist Freisinger and was active in the post-war Viennese avant-garde. She took part in exhibitions at the Vienna Secession and the Künstlerhaus, where she became known for her figurative works. Freisinger-Wohlfahrt created portraits, landscapes and still lifes influenced by Impressionism and Expressionism, often focusing on female themes and scenes from everyday life in Vienna.
