Born in 1895 in Brno into an upper-middle-class family, she received early tuition in music and drawing—as was typical for her social background. In 1924, she moved to Vienna, where she married Wendo Wiglitzki, a director at Polyphon-Grammophon, and later began a relationship with the Secessionist painter Robert Libeski. Her first published sketches appeared in the early 1920s, featuring mainly in fashion magazines and as art postcards; she worked for clients such as the French magazine *Elle* and frequently spent the summer months in the Salzkammergut region. Jelinek-Wiglitzki created predominantly small-format works in pencil and ink—some of them in colour—complemented by a small number of lithographs that are stylistically reminiscent of the Wiener Werkstätte.
