Karl Kasberger* (Vienna 1891 – 1969 Wels) Church in Tyrol, 1937 oil on canvas, 69.7 x 69.8 cm signed Kasberger, dated 1937 ESTIMATE €400 – €800 STARTING PRICE €400 The Austrian stage designer and painter Karl Kasberger trained at the Graphic Teaching and Research Institute and at the School of Applied Arts under Professor Strnad. The focus of his studies on stage and film also aligned with his subsequent professional career. After Kasberger moved to Wels, he worked as a municipal stage designer and also served on the theatre advisory board of the city of Wels from 1942 onwards. In addition, the artist maintained his own studio. Alongside his theatre work, Kasberger not only produced oil paintings but also carried out public commissions for frescoes. Furthermore, he published a series of postcards featuring motifs from Wels around 1919.
