Born in Romania in 1897, he moved to Vienna at a young age, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Rudolf Bacher, and took part in exhibitions organised by the Vienna Secession. He worked as a portraitist and landscape painter during the interwar period, remained active whilst in exile, and returned to Vienna after the war. Kóra-Korber created portraits, figure compositions and cityscapes characterised by a dynamic brushwork technique, intense colours and expressive distortion, influenced by Viennese Modernism and Eastern European folklore.
