Krenek ESTIMATE €500 – €800 STARTING PRICE €500 Carl Krenek was an Austrian painter and graphic artist. After attending the College of Textile Industry from 1896 to 1898, he studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vienna until 1906 under teachers such as Willibald Schulmeister, Alfred Roller, Felician von Myrbach-Reinfeld, Koloman Moser and Carl Otto Czeschka. Krenek undertook educational trips to Germany and Paris and completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Heinrich Lefler in 1907–08. From 1909 onwards, he took part in important exhibitions such as the 1909 art show and the 1910 international hunting exhibition. His talent for illustration and his versatility were entirely in keeping with the Lefler-Moser school. He mastered techniques such as tempera, lithography, algraphy and woodcut, and designed fabric patterns, posters, postcards, book illustrations and stained-glass windows. Krenek also created primarily small-format landscapes of Vienna and the Wachau region, as well as fairy-tale pictures, posters and postcards for the Wiener Werkstätte. He was a member of the Austrian Werkbund. In the case of standard taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The statutory sales tax of 13 per cent (20 per cent for photographs) is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer’s premium and the platform fee. The buyer’s premium amounts to 28 per cent in the case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
