Róza Molnár* (Monor 1900 – 1977 Vac) Horse-drawn sleigh oil on cardboard, 69.5 x 55 cm signed Róza Molnár ESTIMATE €200 – €400 STARTING PRICE €200 Róza Molnár (1900–1977) was a Hungarian graphic designer and modern painter. She was born on 11 October 1900 in Monor and died on 5 May 1977 in Vác. From 1923 to 1927 she studied at the famous artists’ colony in Baia Mare under István Réti and János Thorma. Whilst still a student, she exhibited her works in group exhibitions. In the 1930s, she spent a long period in Paris before settling once more in Baia Mare and eventually returning permanently to Hungary. Her body of work includes landscapes, still lifes and interior scenes – initially naturalistic, but later becoming increasingly colourful and expressive. In addition to painting, she also worked as a book illustrator. Other artists and styles: Béla Kádár, Dezső Czigány, József Rippl-Rónai, János Vaszary, Expressionism, Post-Impressionism PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price comprises the highest bid plus the buyer’s premium, VAT and, where applicable, the artists’ resale rights fee and platform fee. In the case of standard taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax of 13 per cent (20 per cent for photographs) is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer’s premium and the platform fee. The buyer’s premium amounts to 28 per cent in the case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
