Alfred Poell was an Austrian painter and also a doctor. He was known for his landscape and nature paintings, which particularly depicted the Alpine and Attersee regions. Poell initially trained in medicine, studying in Innsbruck and obtaining his doctorate in 1893. He later worked as a gynaecologist in Linz. At the same time, he pursued a passionate artistic career, studying under Wilhelm Velten in Munich and becoming a member of various artistic associations such as the Secession and ‘Der Ring’. His works are characterised by vibrant colours and lifelike depictions.
