He was born on 26 June 1905 in Budapest and died there on 2 March 1985. Repcze began his artistic training at the free art school run by Károly Kernstok and Ékes Lajos Csabai, and continued his studies at the University of Applied Arts in Budapest. Between 1930 and 1950, he worked as a designer at the Athenaeum printing company in Budapest. In 1927, he won the main prize at an international poster festival. In addition to graphic design, his work also included painting, although his style was primarily in the field of applied art. Repcze was a defining figure in the Hungarian graphic arts scene of the 20th century.
