The Hungarian painter Klára (also: Clarisse) Schossberger grew up as the granddaughter of the merchant Zsigmond Schossberger, in his newly built neo-Gothic castle, Tura, in Pest County. He had been made a hereditary baron by King Franz Joseph in 1890. Klára Schossberger was the daughter of Baron Victor I and Marguerita Brach. She began her artistic training with Lajos Deák-Ébner and continued it with Adolf Fényes. She then worked in Berlin for several years. In 1924, Schossberger married Sir Basil Tangye from Birmingham at her parents’ castle. After the wedding, she followed him to England.
