Martin Badekow* (Berlin 1896 – 1983 Berlin) Sitting vintage gelatin silver print 16.5 x 21.9 cm Photographer’s stamp on the negative technical details and photographer’s credit on the reverse mounted on archival card ESTIMATE €200 – €500 STARTING PRICE €200 In 1919, Badekow opened his first independent photography studio in Berlin. In the years that followed, Badekow ran one of Berlin’s most renowned portrait studios. He photographed famous dancers and actresses (e.g. the young Marlene Dietrich), as well as other artists and styles, including Marilyn Monroe, Albert Einstein, Salvador Dalí, Jumpology and surrealist photography PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price comprises the highest bid plus the buyer’s premium, VAT and, where applicable, the artists’ resale rights fee and platform fee. In the case of standard taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax of 13 per cent (20 per cent for photographs) is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer’s premium and the platform fee. The buyer’s premium amounts to 28 per cent in the case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
