Edith Barakovich (Semlin 1896 – 1940 Casablanca) Portrait of a gentleman, circa 1930 vintage gelatin silver print, 25 x 19.3 cm signed in pencil on the mount, photographer’s blind stamp mounted ESTIMATE €200 – €500 STARTING PRICE €200 Edith Barakovich was an Austrian photographer remembered, in particular, for her fashion photography and portraiture. She also worked as a press photographer. Between 1913 and 1915, she was a student at the Graphic Design and Research Institute (“Grafische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt”) in Vienna. She combined this with work at the “Atelier d’Ora”, studying under Dora Kallmus (also known professionally as “Madame D’Ora”). Other artists and styles: Arthur Benda, Edith Glogau, d’Ora, Trude Fleischmann PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price comprises the highest bid plus the buyer’s premium, VAT and, where applicable, the artists’ resale rights fee and platform fee. In the case of standard taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax of 13 per cent (20 per cent for photographs) is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer’s premium and the platform fee. The buyer’s premium amounts to 28 per cent in the case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
