Max Baur* (Günzburg 1898 – 1988 Aschau im Chiemgau) Dachauer Moos, birch trees, 1930s vintage gelatin silver print 24 x 29.6 cm signed ESTIMATE €250 – €500 STARTING PRICE €250 Max Baur began his photographic career in 1924. In 1928, he set up a studio and a postcard publishing business in Wernigerode. For a time, Baur collaborated there with the Austrian landscape photographer Adalbert Defner. From 1933 onwards, he became acquainted with Hermann Hesse, who went on to collect his photographs. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price comprises the highest bid plus the buyer’s premium, VAT and, where applicable, the artists’ resale rights fee and platform fee. In the case of standard taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The statutory VAT of 13 per cent (20 per cent for photographs) is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer’s premium and the platform fee. The buyer’s premium amounts to 28 per cent in the case of differential taxation. VAT is included in the differential taxation.
