Arthur Benda* (Berlin 1885 – 1969 Vienna) Portrait of a lady, 1930s vintage gelatine silver print 28 x 19.9 cm signed in pencil ‘Arthur Benda Wien’ ‘d’Ora/Benda Vienna’ stamp on the negative ‘d’Ora/Benda’ stamp on the reverse of the mount mounted ESTIMATE €150 – €400 STARTING PRICE €150 Arthur Benda was a German photographer. From 1907 to 1938, he worked at the d’Ora photographic studio in Vienna, becoming a partner of Dora Kallmus in 1921 and sole proprietor under the name d’Ora-Benda from 1927 onwards. Further artists and styles: fashion photography, Art Deco photography, Jazz Age, nude photography, advertising photography, Madame d’Ora, Edith Glogau, Edith Barakovich, Trude Fleischmann PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price comprises the highest bid plus the buyer’s premium, VAT and, where applicable, the artists’ resale rights fee and platform fee. In the case of standard taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid.
