Daniel Frasnay* (Villeneuve-le-Roi 1928 – 2019 Charolles) Untitled, Paris, c. 1960 gelatin silver print 29.8 x 39.6 cm photographer’s stamp on the reverse ESTIMATE €250 – €700 STARTING PRICE €250 Daniel Frasnay was a French photographer. His career as a photographer of the ‘Grand Spectacle’ in Parisian nightlife began in the early 1950s. He became the resident photographer at the Lido nightclub. From 1953 onwards, he worked as a freelance photojournalist for various well-known photo agencies and magazines. In the late 1960s, Frasnay began to focus on portraits of writers and artists, PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price comprises the highest bid plus the buyer’s premium, VAT and, where applicable, the artists’ resale rights fee and platform fee. In the case of standard taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax of 13 per cent (20 per cent for photographs) is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer’s premium and the platform fee. The buyer’s premium amounts to 28 per cent in the case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
