Egidio Scaioni* (Milan 1894 – 1966 Paris) Model wearing a Premet fashion travelling ensemble, 1928 vintage gelatin silver print 22.5 x 15.9 cm photographer’s stamp on the reverse Lower right-hand corner bumped, retouched ESTIMATE €150 – €400 STARTING PRICE €150 Italian photographer Egidio Scaioni moved to Paris in the early 1920s, where he worked extensively in fashion and advertising. His work appeared in the leading fashion magazines. He specialised in fashion and collaborated with great couturiers such as Maggy Rouff and, in particular, Lucien Lelong. Egidio Scaioni is also one of the pioneers of colour photography, which was introduced in magazines in the 1930s for advertising purposes.
