Born in Vienna in 1902, the son of a lithographer, he completed an apprenticeship as a lithographer, studied independently and in private studios, took part in exhibitions organised by the Hagenbund from 1930 onwards, experimented with photography and collage, was active in Viennese Modernism of the 1930s, and from 1945 created post-war works imbued with an avant-garde spirit. Senkinc painted gentleman centaurs, ruined churches and hybrid figures characterised by dynamic lines, avant-garde fragmentation and contradictory modernism, influenced by Surrealism, Viennese Expressionism and photomontage; his oil paintings, etchings and photographs featured playful composition and provocative humour.
