Franz Xaver Setzer (Vienna 1886 – 1939 Vienna) Actress Paula Wessely, 1935 vintage gelatin silver print 22.5 x 16.6 cm photographer’s blind stamp, signed and dated ‘Wien 1935’ with autograph and dedication by the subject mounted ESTIMATE €300 – €700 STARTING PRICE €300 Franz Xaver Setzer was an Austrian photographer. Figures from the worlds of theatre, opera and culture were photographed in their early years at the Setzer studio, including the composer Arnold Schönberg and the writer Stefan Zweig. Other photographs show that Franz Xaver Setzer also maintained friendly relations with his contemporary colleagues, such as Madame d’Ora and Arthur Benda.
