Franz Vinzenz Dressler* (Krems 1918 – 2002) Abstract composition mixed media on paper, 52.4 x 34 cm signed F. Dressler ESTIMATE €100 – €200 STARTING PRICE €100 Austrian painter of the 20th century. Born in Krems an der Donau in 1918, he completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic and was seriously wounded in the Second World War (1941), after which he studied at the German Academy of Fine Arts from 1943 onwards. A member of the Wachau Artists’ Association, he received the Lower Austria Culture Prize in 1964 and was regarded as a key figure in post-war painting in the region. Dressler created landscapes and scenes of the Wachau region incorporating Impressionist and Expressionist elements, which were exhibited in Krems and regional galleries.
