Kurt Moldovan* (Vienna 1918 – 1977 Vienna) Poseidon with entourage, 1972 etching on paper, 24 x 32.4 cm signed Moldovan, numbered 70/200 ESTIMATE €80 – €150 STARTING PRICE €80 Kurt Moldovan was an Austrian artist. After training as a precision mechanic, he studied commercial and illustrative design at the Vienna School of Applied Arts. During the Second World War, he served as a soldier on the Eastern Front. After the war, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Sergius Pauser and Herbert Boeckl. In 1947, he was a founding member of the Art Club. He undertook many inspirational journeys and took part in numerous international exhibitions, including the 1958 World Exhibition in Brussels. His acquaintances included Ernst Fuchs, Ingeborg Bachmann, Friedensreich Hundertwasser and, above all, his long-standing friend Paul Flora. He is known for his diverse body of work in graphic art, literature and painting.
