Description
ZERO
Uecker, Günther
Engadin II. 1982. Colour lithograph on vellum. 40 x 40 cm. Signed, dated and numbered, and bearing the publisher’s dry stamp. - Slight ink bleed on the reverse; a very faint, barely visible handling mark in the lower right-hand corner. Overall, very good condition. A magnificent, richly coloured and chalky print of the abstract composition with a narrow margin.
One of 75 copies. - Published by Erker-Presse, St. Gallen. - This calligraphically rendered composition was created during Uecker’s stays in Switzerland and reflects his impressions and emotions in the form of lines and planes, or, as the artist himself put it, as “epileptic reactions like gestural stammering”. In blue, violet and purple, he develops a structural pattern of marks that dissolves into individual gestures, rendering nature not as a representation but as a physical reaction to light and space.
