Description
German Post-War Fleck, Ralph Spanish Landscape 30/III. 1988. Oil on brown packing paper. 17 x 30.3 cm. Signed, dated and titled. Mounted in places. – Small pinholes in the corners; overall in very good condition. The colours are fresh. Ralph Fleck’s works allow the viewer to experience the magic of everyday life. Cities, landscapes, flowers and familiar objects such as a glass of coffee form the basis of his motifs. Executed in a highly impasto style and focused on a narrow frame of reference, his paintings demonstrate a highly distinctive visual language. Drawing on Impressionism, they capture a specific, everyday moment and oscillate between figuration and abstraction. With colour applied in thick swathes and with gestural expression, they make the subject matter almost tangible. Fleck is a former master student of Peter Dreher and lives between Freiburg and Portugal. Among other honours, he has been awarded a scholarship from the Villa Massimo in Rome, and his works can be found in numerous private and public collections. Oil on brown packing paper.
