Untitled. 1976. Chinese ink on smooth vellum. 24.5 x 29.5 cm. Signed, dated and with details of the work on the reverse. - One corner is slightly bumped and the surface shows minimal soiling. Overall, very good condition. A composition rendered in bold strokes.
Work number 76/365. - Insert in the special edition ‘Norbert Kricke’, edited by Jürgen Morschel, illustrated by Norbert Kricke, Hatje 1976. - We would like to thank Ms Sabine Kricke-Güse for her helpful information and confirmation of the work’s authenticity. - In the late 1940s, Norbert Kricke completed his training as a master student under Richard Scheibe at the Berlin University of the Arts. His oeuvre comprises large-scale metal sculptures, primarily made from filigree steel rods. These monumental sculptures, which appear as free-standing drawings in space, find their graphic expression in the artist’s ink works on paper. Kricke is regarded as one of the most significant representatives of post-war German modernism.
