A collection of 110 artists’ postcards and envelopes. 1975 to the late 1990s. Some feature original drawings on vellum. Each is signed or inscribed, some with personal greetings. – Some are slightly yellowed. Corners show minimal wear. Some show handling marks. Overall in very good condition. A magnificent collection offering a wide range of personal testimonies and numerous artistic dedications.
Contains 110 postcards and envelopes sent by renowned artists to the Pötschke couple, collectors. 23 cards featuring hand-drawn illustrations, including works by, amongst others, Elvira Bach, Uecker, Emil Schumacher, Paul Flora, Robert Indiana, Mordillo, Horst Janssen, Reiner Ruthenbeck, Erich Brauer, Wolfgang Hutter, Ottmar Alt, Emil Schumacher, Herman Nitsch, Max Weiler and K. O. Götz. All the cards bear personal greetings or signatures, including those of Georg Baselitz and Maria Lassnig. Over the decades, the collector couple approached artists with a request for a brief personal greeting; the artists frequently responded to this request with great openness and individual creativity. This resulted in an extraordinary historical document that is as personal as it is culturally and historically fascinating.
