Description
Fluxus Paik, Nam June 3 works. Triangle, Trinity. From: Sequences. 1998. Each a colour silkscreen, offset and collage, or colour silkscreen and offset on Rives Velin. Each 30.5 x 32.5 cm (40 x 50 cm). Each signed and numbered, and bearing the publisher’s stamp on the reverse. - Overall in very good condition. Magnificent, vibrantly coloured prints of these atmospheric compositions with margins. One of 60 copies each. – Published by Edition Schellmann, Munich/New York. – The three prints presented here, which Nam June Paik created for the ‘Sequences’, combine subtle visual distortions, silhouette-like figures and collaged television clips to create a visual world that links the aesthetics of early video art with the fragmented perception of a media-saturated present. The triptych format is not merely a formal choice: the title ‘Trinity’ refers to a triangular relationship between image, medium and viewer that pervades Paik’s entire body of work.
