Untitled (Heart). 1988. Sculpture made of plaster and sheathed metal wires on a painted metal stand. 28 x 14 x 13 cm (including stand). Signed and dated on the reverse. – Partially somewhat brittle due to the materials used; corrosion inside the stand. Overall in very good condition. A work composed of an intriguing combination of materials, featuring a distinctly textured and spatially expansive surface design.
In his multi-material sculptures, which incorporate everyday materials, architectural elements and found objects, Thomas Virnich opens up spaces of play and metamorphosis in which forms are dismantled, shifted and reassembled, so that the familiar appears surprising and playful.
