East German Art Cremer, Fritz Collection of 10 prints: Lovers. 1959–1985. Lithographs on vellum (some with watermarks). Approx. 21 x 18 cm – 41 x 25 cm. (50 x 38 cm to 60.5 x 42.5 cm). Each signed and dated. One sheet is numbered and titled on the reverse. - Works slightly yellowed and with occasional brown spots. Corners and edges partly slightly bumped. Isolated light handling marks; on the reverse, mounting residues, subtle crease marks and partial surface scuffing. Two sheets with a wavy texture caused by the printing process. One of 50 copies (Akt); the remaining sheets are unnumbered. - Fritz Cremer is one of the most distinctive sculptors of post-war German modernism and is known above all for his expressive, figurative works. Alongside his political and memorial sculptures, his oeuvre also comprises a series of erotic depictions in which he explores the human body in a highly condensed, often crudely modelled form. These works are characterised by an immediate physicality and a reduced, tension-filled formal language. Set of 10 depictions: Lithographs on woven paper (some with watermark). Approx. 21 x 18 cm to 41 x 25 cm (50 x 38 cm to 60.5 x 42.5 cm). Each signed and dated. One sheet is numbered and titled on the reverse. – Slightly toned overall and sporadically foxed. Edges and margins are partly lightly bumped. Occasional light handling marks; on the reverse, there are remnants of mounting, slight creasing and partial surface abrasions. Two sheets exhibit printing-related surface waviness. - One of 50 copies (nude); the remaining sheets are unnumbered. - Fritz Cremer is one of the most distinctive sculptors of post-war German modernism and is particularly known for his expressive figurative works. In addition to his political and commemorative sculptures, his body of work also includes a series of erotic depictions in which he explores the human body in a highly condensed, often roughly modelled form. These works are characterised by an immediate physical presence and a reduced, tension-filled formal language.
