Monogrammed and dated; signed, dated and titled on the reverse. – A closed tear approx. 23 cm long at the top. Overall in very good condition. An expressive work featuring a vigorous wash in a full-format composition.
We would like to thank Mr Nicholas Staudt for including this work in the supplement to the catalogue raisonné. – This work is characteristic of Morgner’s oeuvre, in which he engages intensively with humanity and the human condition. In the artist’s works, physical motifs merge with a multi-layered symbolic language. Characteristic features include the tightly composed pictorial spaces, which create an oppressive effect. The figures depicted appear anonymous, vulnerable and shaped by existential experiences.
