Studio at Midday. 2013/16. Oil on hardboard. 56 x 35 cm. Monogrammed and dated. Signed, titled and dated on the reverse. In the artist’s frame. - Partially showing minimal surface wear. Overall in very good condition. A magnificent, atmospheric work.
In the dreamlike, softly lit atmosphere of the studio, reality and imagination merge: a shop window mannequin and a bronze bust enter into a close dialogue, whilst in the background a female nude model gazes out from a tall mirror. A small red glint of colour at the top edge of the picture draws the eye to the incoming beam of light. - Figure, space and landscape form central motifs in his work, in which personal memories, fleeting impressions and studio experiences are condensed into painterly form. - Andreas Wachter, born in Chemnitz in 1951, studied at the Academy of Graphic Arts and Book Design in Leipzig from 1974 to 1980, where he was profoundly influenced by Arno Rink and Volker Stelzmann.
