International Postwar Cubism Léger, Fernand La Femme au Poudrier. 1959. Colour lithograph on Arches Velin (with artist’s mark). Sheet size 66 x 50.5 cm. Stamped, signed and numbered. - Each with punch holes in the centre, traces of a former mount. Minimal soiling in places; occasional slight, inherent studio marks. Overall in good condition. Excellent prints with fresh colours, featuring a wide margin and the artist’s margin. Saphire, 238. – One of 180 copies. From the portfolio ‘La Ville’. – Edited posthumously by Fernand Mourlot and Nadia Léger, published by Tériade, Paris 1959. – The artist had begun the project in 1954 but died in the summer of 1955. His wife Nadia, Fernand Mourlot and the publisher Tériade gathered together Léger’s remaining studies and finished plates to complete the project, which was finally printed and published in 1959, four years after his death. - Featuring the colour variation in blue inherent to the printing process. Colour lithograph on Arches wove paper (with watermark). Signed and numbered with a stamp. – With pinholes in the centre, evidence of previous mounting.
