15 original etchings based on Apuleius. Cupid and Psyche. Undated (1880). Each etching mounted on China paper, which has been rolled onto thick Vélin card. Numbered in the lower right-hand corner of each plate; No. 1 additionally bears the artist’s signature in the lower left-hand corner. Each 25.5 x 17.5 cm (42.5 x 31.5 cm). - Occasionally slightly foxed in the white margins; overall, magnificent, crisp and deep black prints. - Loose in the original half-linen folder with an illustrated title on the cover and a closing ribbon.
Singer 64–79. - Folio-sized portfolio no. 1 of the series, published by Theo. Strofers Kunstverlag, Nuremberg. - The portfolio is somewhat stained and scuffed; the fabric closure ribbon is only partially preserved.
