Description
Classical Modernism Expressionism Felixmüller, Conrad 3 works. Untitled (Female nude studies). 1937. Pencil on parchment paper. 30 x 10 cm / 30 x 10.5 cm / 30 x 13 cm. Signed and dated ‘16.IV.37’. Mounted on the reverse in the corners beneath the passe-partout. Framed under glass. - Slight smudging due to the technique used; minimal yellowing due to the paper. Overall in very good condition. Provenance: Private collection, Munich. - Felixmüller’s studies offer an insight into his drawing process and document his meticulous exploration of the female nude. The three loose pencil drawings, executed on parchment paper, display a reduced style focused on the essentials, which seems to capture both the anatomical accuracy and the essence of the figures. Set against the backdrop of the 1930s – a period of personal and artistic restriction under the Nazi regime – Felixmüller’s studies reflect his restrained approach to the human form, eschewing expressive exaggeration in favour of focused observation and formal clarity. The sketches thus serve both a workshop function and a reflective one, documenting the development of his figurative visual language. 3 works. Pencil on parchment paper. Signed and dated ‘16.IV.37’.
