Description
Contemporary Art
Knöller, Paco
Marine work. 1999. Colour woodcut on sturdy Velin board. 70 x 100 cm. Signed, dated and numbered on the reverse. - Overall very good condition. A magnificent, exceptionally richly coloured print of the painterly composition without a margin; the colours are fresh and vibrant.
One of 99 copies. - Published by Edition Schellmann, Munich/New York. - Paco Knöller, who studied under Joseph Beuys in the early 1970s, explores in his work the transitions between drawing and painting, between line and colour space. This woodcut, *Meerische Arbeit*, reflects this approach: against the dense, textured green of the board, yellow and black lines unfold in free, sweeping strokes. Knöller’s decades-long connection to the coastal landscape around the Saaler Bodden and Ahrenshoop gives the title a biographical anchor, without confining the work to a purely landscape-based representation.
