Description
Contemporary Art Bustamante, Jean-Marc 9 works. In: Algonquin. 2006. Each a colour silkscreen print on transparent polyester. Each 40 x 60 cm (60 x 80 cm). Each signed and numbered. In original, lacquered wooden box with a sliding cover made of screen-printed Plexiglas. – Overall in very good condition. Superb, nuanced prints with an atmospheric effect. One of 24 copies. – Published by Edition Schellmann, Munich/New York. - These nine prints depict bars and clubs bathed in artificial light – stage spotlights, coloured ceiling lights, the diffuse glow of bar counters and dance floors. Figures emerge from the semi-darkness without being individualised; the scenes remain anonymous and atmospherically condensed. Bustamante thus continues his central theme: the relationship between light, space and human presence, which has defined his *Lumières* series since the late 1980s. The transparent polyester reinforces this quality: light penetrates the image carrier itself, blurring the boundary between the image and the material. The box, featuring the Lumière silkscreen print on the lid, is conceived as part of the work and anchors the portfolio within Bustamante’s overarching exploration of photography, printmaking and sculptural objects. – With 4 stainless steel fastening clips.
